The Office of University Postdoctoral Affairs (OUPA) is pleased to announce the third annual Postdoctoral Research Symposium, which will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Sayles Hall and Petteruti Lounge. The symposium will feature a poster session and reception from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Sayles Hall.

This poster session aims to provide an opportunity for professional development, networking with peers from different disciplinary areas, and increasing the visibility of postdoctoral research at Brown. Brown postdoctoral appointees from all departments and fields of research, as well as postdoctoral appointees at Brown-affiliated hospitals, are highly encouraged to participate.

As a token of appreciation, every poster session participant will receive a The North Face Connector Laptop Backpack as a “thank you” gift. The reception accompanying the session will include appetizers, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. Additionally, the best research posters will be recognized with awards at the end of the poster session.


2. Important Information for Poster Session Participants

  • The poster submission period is open until February 27, 2025. Click here to access the submission form.
  • Only posters featuring research and scholarly work will be accepted for the poster session.
  • The word count limit for the abstract is 400 words.
  • Co-authors should be included as appropriate for the work being presented. The postdoc who submits the poster should be the presenting author.
  • Submissions must be made by individuals with a current appointment at Brown University as a postdoctoral research associate or postdoctoral fellow. Submissions may also be made by an equivalent postdoctoral appointee with a Brown affiliation at a Brown-affiliated hospital.
  • Poster session participants must have an appointment end date of March 28, 2025 or later.
  • Your poster dimensions should be no larger than 36 inches (91.44 cm) tall by 48 inches (121.92 cm) wide. Please see below for poster printing instructions.
  • The symposium is an in-person event without a hybrid or virtual option. The symposium will follow any COVID-19 protocols set by Brown University, which can be found here.
  • The reception accompanying the poster session will include appetizers, wine and beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.

3. Poster Printing Instructions

Your poster dimensions should be no larger than 36 inches (91.44 cm) tall by 48 inches (121.92 cm) wide.

Postdocs should utilize the Quick-Print Copy Services for poster printing. Quick-print copy services can be utilized for projects such as poster printing and are available at the following Providence locations near Brown and online”

4. Financing the Printing of Your Poster

OUPA has limited funds available to reimburse Brown postdoctoral appointees for printing posters for this poster session (up to $160 per poster until funds are exhausted). Participants are expected to seek financial support from their PI or department for poster printing first. Reimbursement for poster printing will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. To request reimbursement for your poster printing, please send your receipt for printing to postdoc-affairs@brown.edu.

Please note that postdoctoral scholars with primary appointments at a Brown-affiliated hospital are not eligible for reimbursement funds.
