2012 PhD EE from Brown
Although Pooya began his graduate studies intending to focus on experimental work, he quickly demonstrated an unusual talent for numerical simulations.
His PhD thesis was entitled Low-Voltage End-of-Roadmap Transistors and their Reliability in the Presence of Noise with publications on predicted error rates in ultimate CMOS devices due to thermal noise (with both a new statistical framework and time-to-failure estimates), as well as due to radiation upsets.
After Brown he first moved into the lucrative patent expert field, but has subsequently seen the light and returned to research by joining first Silvaco, then Synopsys, and most recently Waymo.
