On April 24th, 2024, Brown University hosted 350 high school students from Providence, Pawtucket, and Central Falls for the College Day at Brown experience. Students were able to attend interactive sessions in one of five areas: STEM, liberal arts, education, entrepreneurship, and social impact.

This year, our lab decided to host a STEM experience in biomechanics to highlight National Biomechanics Day that took place on April 3rd, 2024. Our experience entitled “Biomechanics Unleashed: Discover the Mechanics Behind Your Moves” aimed to introduce students to the field of biomechanics and biomedical engineering by allowing them to engage in hands-on activities with state-of-the-art biomechanics research technology.

A special thank you to the Roberts Lab in the Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology Department for collaborating with our lab and demonstrating how biomechanics and functional morphology could be used to study how animals move!
