Byron Butaney ’25:
Byron is a senior from Scottsdale, Arizona concentrating in Computer Science while following the pre-medical track. Byron’s dedication to the journal stems from his past experiences with chronic injury, his career goals as a future physician, and his desire to balance his STEM-heavy curriculum with his passion for writing and the humanities. Through his experiences as a volunteer, patient, and researcher, he has seen time- and- time- again the importance of embracing medicine’s inherent ambiguity and cultural complexity. As Editor-in-Chief, Byron is excited to experience and integrate the variety of perspectives and works submitted to the journal this year. In addition to serving as one of the journal’s Editors-in-Chief, Byron is a research lead for the Infectious Disease Society, a tutor for CHEM 0350/360 (Organic Chemistry I/II), a developer for Full Stack @ Brown, and a researcher at the Brown Center for Computational Molecular Biology.
Adeline Allen ’25:
Addie is a senior from Mystic, Connecticut studying Health and Human Biology with a focus on the social determinants of health while also following the pre-medical track. After finishing her undergraduate degree, she plans to attend medical school and train as a physician. In addition to a strong interest in how humans engage with medicine and healthcare, she is interested in how humans engage socially and culturally, leading her to pursue extensive language and anthropology coursework at Brown. Addie found a perfect opportunity to combine her interests within the journal and looks forward to bringing in her editorial experience in publications as well as her passion for the social elements of medicine. In addition to serving as the journal’s Chief of Staff, Addie is a UTA for BIOL0170 (Biotechnology in Medicine), a Health and Human Biology DUG Leader, a Sheridan Center Biology Tutor, and a researcher in the Kilguss Research Institute’s Perinatal Neuroscience laboratory.
Amrik Eadara ’26:
Amrik is a junior from Sharon, Massachusetts who intends to concentrate in Health & Human Biology on the Mind, Health, & Behavior Track and Public Health while also pursuing the pre-medical track. Amrik is highly interested in the intersection of medicine and public health and their role in providing equitable and inclusive care for all. Through his own medical experiences, he has been a direct witness to the necessity of integrating medicine and humanities to deliver the most beneficial outcomes. He is thrilled at the opportunity of leveraging the momentous success of the inaugural issue to help craft another captivating issue that impacts the Brown and larger medical humanities community. Outside of the journal, Amrik is a player for the Brownian Motion Ultimate Frisbee team, a Health and Human Biology DUG leader, and a researcher in the Lifespan Orthopedics Institute’s Jayasuriya laboratory. He is also a Digital Navigator for The Division of Digital Psychiatry at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Mina Cho ’27
Mina is a sophomore from Arlington, Massachusetts, who intends to concentrate in Biology and East Asian Studies on the pre-health track. Passionate about integrating art into the humanities, Mina is interested in finding creative ways to make science more accessible and digestible. She is dedicated to sharing underrepresented voices in medicine and striving to promote inclusivity and diverse perspectives in healthcare. As Chief of Design, Mina is excited to build on the impressive foundation of BJMH’s first two issues, aiming to create an even more impactful and visually engaging edition that resonates deeply with readers. Outside of the journal, Mina works as an executive board member of Brown’s Mixed Asian Student’s Heritage Club, a photographer for Fashion@Brown, and an avid crocheter for various school and outside projects.
The current board would like to thank the founders and previous executive board members (2022-2024) for their contributions to the journal. They paved the path for the medical humanities at Brown and the current team hopes to continue spreading their message.
