Meet the CannTalk Team!
Dr. Jane Metrik, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Departments of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University. Her program of research is focused on cannabis behavioral pharmacology, ecological momentary assessment studies, and clinical trials examining cannabinoid-based treatment and comorbidity of cannabis use with alcohol use and psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Kristina Jackson, Ph.D. (She/Her) is a Professor co-leading the project. She received her PhD in social psychology from Arizona State University where she developed her interest in studying young adult health behavior. She studies the initiation and progression of alcohol use in adolescents and young adults, the influence of context on substance use (including both social and media influences), and the use of fine-grained and longitudinal data to understand the causes and consequences of alcohol and cannabis use.
Dr. Michelle Rogers, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the Brown University School of Public Health and Associate Director of the Survey Research Center. She has expertise in survey research methods, spatial analysis, and complex data management. Her research interests focus primarily on the effect of where one lives on their health and well-being.
Dr. Elizabeth Aston, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor (Research) in the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies at the Brown University School of Public Health. Her line of programmatic research focuses on decision-making surrounding cannabis and other substance use, recreational and medical cannabis use motives, predictors of cannabis-related outcomes (e.g., frequency, cannabis use disorder, problems), and cannabis’ reinforcing value among those who endorse use. She is also interested in cannabis’ medical applications and uses qualitative and quantitative methods to study cannabis’ potential medical benefits.
Dr. Jennifer Merrill, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at the Brown School of Public Health. Her work has primarily focused on investigating the alcohol use experiences of young adults, but she has more recently developed a parallel interest in cannabis research.
Holly is a postdoc (fellow) who received her PhD from Brown University School of Public Health. Her interests include understanding the etiology and consequences of co-use of alcohol and cannabis among young adults using mixed methods, including qualitative methods (e.g., individual interviews) and event-level quantitative assessment (e.g., ecological momentary assessment). She hopes to develop more effective prevention and intervention efforts that focus on both risky single and multi-substance use behavior.
