It’s hard to believe that Matt McGarrell is retiring! To me, he and his “vibe” are Brown and it’s hard to imagine him not being there. I’ve learned so much from Matt over the years, watching him helped me as a teacher but more so as a human. I will always be grateful for his example. Everything that he did was in support of the students, he has my deep respect for that. Teaching individual lessons gives one the opportunity to see how students are impacted by their environment and situations, and all the students who were in Matt’s orbit were able to keep a solid core about themselves due to his presence in their lives. So many good memories of AMP recitals over the years, so many happy and satisfied wind players! Happy retirement Matt, thank you so much for everything! I’m going to miss you, and wish you the best of everything in your new adventure!
