About Us

Welcome to the Cognition, Emotion, and Life Experiences Lab (CELL)

Our mission:

The CEL Lab uses multi-method assessment consistent with the NIMH Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) Matrix to characterize and better understand suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious thoughts and behaviors. We use methods including ecological momentary assessment (EMA), psychophysiology, eye tracking, fMRI, EEG, laboratory-based behavioral tasks, and speech signal analysis to build a more comprehensive understanding of these behaviors.

We aim to advance the existing scientific understanding of suicidal thoughts and behaviors and, in turn, help inform and develop novel suicide prevention strategies with a special focus on ecological momentary interventions (EMI).
