Congratulations to Madison Michles for presenting two posters at the Warren Alpert Medical School’s 18th Annual Academic Symposium! Her presentations highlighted the outstanding work she conducted over the summer as part of the Basic Translational Research Program.
Christian Godinez, Bea Campilan, Madison Michles, and Christian Schroeder presented at the 2024 Brown University Health Research Day (formerly known as the Lifespan Annual Research Day), joining numerous other members of the research community in showcasing their work and marking the first year the Chordoma Labs has participated in this annual event.
Special congratulations to Benjamín Córdova Herrera, our first undergraduate student to travel across the country for a poster presentation! At the end of October, Benjamín represented our lab at the 50th Anniversary of the SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) National Convention in Anaheim, California.
Chordoma Labs Goes Abroad! Congratulations to Bea Campilan, Christian Godinez, and Madison Michles on presenting the lab’s first posters at an international conference. Along with Dr. Margot Martinez-Moreno, the team traveled to Barcelona, Spain, for the 36th EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics. This milestone marks an exciting step in sharing our research on a global stage!
In early September, our team had the privilege of presenting five abstracts at back-to-back Legorreta Cancer Center conferences. Congratulations to Jessica Ding, Kaylee Gallagher, Madison Michles, Christian Godinez, and Bea Campilan for their outstanding poster presentations at the LCC Translational Oncology Symposium and the LCC Annual Membership Retreat!
At the start of the 2024 – 2025 academic year, we were excited to welcome several new members to our team! Sydney Harris joined as an undergraduate research assistant, while Golara Malaki, Tianyi Wang, and Leah Shin began their two-year journey with us as part of the Biotechnology Graduate Program.

Aligned with our commitment to teaching and inclusivity, Bea and Christian participated in the Future Gen Cancer Scholars Program, welcoming public high school students from Central Falls, Pawtucket, and Providence to our lab over the summer. Through hands-on laboratory experiences and small group mentorship sessions, they fostered a passion for research and the biomedical sciences in the next generation of aspiring scientists.
We were thrilled to welcome several students to the lab this summer! Kaylee and Benjamín, both rising third-year undergraduate students, returned to continue their work with us. Lila Rizvi, another rising junior, joined as a new undergraduate research assistant of the team. Live Cobery, an undergraduate from Northeastern University, also joined us for the summer, bringing fresh enthusiasm to the lab.
Our manuscript “Animal Model Considerations for Chordoma Research: Reproducing the Tumor Microenvironment In Vivo with Humanized Mice” was published in Frontiers in Oncology, section Cancer Immunity and Immunotherapy!
