Christian Godinez joined the lab as an undergraduate research assistant

Jonathan Arditi joined the lab as a medical student

We welcomed Kaylee Gallagher as the first undergraduate research assistant at the lab and Christian Schroeder as our first medical student!

With generous support from the Rhode Island Foundation, we were awarded a Medical Research Grant for the research project entitled “The epigenetic regulatory network of brachyury in chordoma” (submitted by Dr. Martinez-Moreno). Starting in June, this pilot project will study the differential binding of brachyury, a transcription factor, to different motifs via ChIP-seq experiments and analysis. If successful, this pilot project will be the foundation to uncover the epigenetic regulatory networks of brachyury in chordoma oncogenesis and progression.

Bea Campilan joined the lab as our first research assistant

From September 2022 to March 2023, we have set up our lab spaces, including the 2 independent laboratories, a BL2 cell culture room and a dedicated BL2 animal suite, that includes a dedicated surgery room and a state-of-the-art biohazard racks to house NuJ mice.

Dr. Patricia Sullivan, MD, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Director of the Center of Spine Tumor and Chordoma Research. Dr. Margot Martinez-Moreno, PhD, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, and Director of the Spinal Tumor Epigenetics Laboratory/Co-Director of the CSTCR.
