Corey Fitzgerald (Psychotherapist, Counseling and Psychological Services at Brown University)

Corey Martin Fitzgerald, M.Ed., LMHC was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Higher Educational Leadership at Johnson and Wales University, Providence, and holds a Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Louisiana State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Louisiana Tech University. He joined Brown University’s Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) in Fall 2019 as a 10-month Psychotherapist/Brief Treatment Specialist. Now Corey serves as a 12-month Psychotherapist and the Coordinator for Outreach and Programming for CAPS. Corey is entering his fifth year of working  in collegiate mental health and his clinical interests include: BIPOC, LGBT+ issues, mindfulness, CBT/DBT approaches, and outreach initiatives . His previous professional appointments include Mississippi State University and Louisiana State University. Corey has experience in various facets of higher education and collegiate mental health including: career counseling, campus outreach, prevention programming, academic counseling, admission/orientation services, crisis management, group counseling, and brief treatment interventions. As a Black, queer, neurodiverse, Christian, formerly low-income, first-gen graduate, Corey uses his intersecting identities to inform his practice. Corey is excited to serve on the CHAS conference board, and wishes all participants a transformative time spent in community.
