This session aims to unpack the future of Brotherhood support services on colleges campuses, to share intentional, inclusive, and constructive strategies; encouraging campuses and students to evolve their concept of brotherhood towards embracing the inclusion of “all” within their models. Historically the discussions to support men of color across college campuses, have rendered invisible the experiences of brothers who are GBTQQs (Gay, Bisexual, Men of Trans Experience, Queer, Questioning, or along the Spectrum). However, like the man-box it is unhealthy for college-based men of color programs to practice a restrictive one size fits all approach. This session will provide a space for participants to recognize how narratives of GBTQQs, men of color, must be celebrated in order to disrupt pre-existing program structures that prevent students who identify as GBTQQs to embody their authentic selves.
