The Commonwealth Care Alliance

United Way

United Way provides a network of support to help individuals and families access essential services like food, shelter, healthcare, and financial assistance. Through local chapters, it offers programs focused on education, economic stability, and health, aiming to improve community well-being and address pressing social issues

United Way – 211 Help Line

211 Help Line is a free confidential service help line that can connect you with housing, food, affordable childcare, job training, legal support, and much more.

United Way – POINT

POINT: Aging and Disability Center: The United Way POINT (Providing Opportunities for Individuals in Need Today) program connects elderly and individuals with disabilities in Rhode Island with vital resources, including food assistance, housing support,

transportation, and healthcare services. It provides information and referrals to help individuals and families navigate challenges and access the support they need.

Brown Health Diabetes Prevention Program

This one-year program helps people with pre-diabetes make lifestyle changes and improve their diet to prevent the onset of diabetes. Delivered in English and Spanish, this program is led by a trained lifestyle coach who supports participants as they make changes with a goal of losing 5-9% of their body weight. It begins with weekly one-hour sessions in the first six months and tapers off to monthly sessions. This is a free program.

Lions Clubs International Diabetes Camps Program

The Diabetes Camps program is designed to help enhance the quality of life for young people living with diabetes. This program fosters relationships that will help participants expand their diabetes management skills and increase knowledge of the disease.

Aging Well Services at Child & Family Services

Aging Well at Child & Family services work in collaboration with Office of Healthy Aging to provide a comprehensive in-home program focused on those 65 and above to sustain independent lifestyles in the privacy of their own homes. Case Managers familiarize themselves with the environment and assess the client in a holistic framework that addresses immediate needs and long-term objectives defined by the elders themselves. Collaborative care plans are developed, services are implemented, and continued evaluations and monitoring are provided to ensure success.

Programs provided: Community Waiver Home Care program, Copay Homecare/ Adult Day program, Victim of Crime Advocate program (VOCA), Medicare Counseling- State Health Insurance Assistance program (SHIP), Veterans Resource Assistance program.

​The Rhode Island Community Food Bank maintains an extensive, regularly updated list of food pantries and meal sites across the state, organized by town and ZIP code, to help individuals and families in need access essential food resources . Many of these locations offer more than just food assistance; depending on the site and schedule, visitors may also find trained volunteers or members of the Food Bank’s SNAP Outreach Team available to help determine eligibility and assist with applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) . This integrated support aims to connect individuals not only with immediate food relief but also with longer-term nutritional assistance.​

The Rhode Island Assistive Technology Access Partnership (ATAP) is designed as a statewide partnership of organizations, each with a targeted assistive technology focus, working together to improve access to and acquisition of assistive technology for individuals with disabilities.

TechACCESS of Rhode Island

TechACCESS believes that an informed consumer working collaboratively with knowledgeable professionals can best identify and select effective technology devices and services to improve his or her independent functioning.
