We are always interested in collaborating with students who are interested in the field of healthy policy and health economics, and welcome innovative ideas that build upon our current work.
Students who are interested in contributing to our work should review the active projects listed on this site to identify specific areas of interest. Students should develop an initial research question that can be explored with the currently available data, and then email Dr. Galárraga and his Lab Manager to request a meeting. Inclusion of a brief abstract and analysis plan in the email is not required but encouraged. In general, we expect that students working with us will:
- Have a genuine interest in health economics, health services research, and/or applied health and behavioral economics;
- Have some experience conducting economic evaluations that consider both the costs and outcomes of health care interventions (e.g., cost-effectiveness analysis, cost-benefit analysis, discrete choice experiments, decision-analytic modelling);
- Are proficient in at least one statistical package such as STATA (preferred), R, SAS, or Python and are able to perform basic data cleaning and run basic summary statistics, at minimum;
- Have some experience working collaboratively with others as part of a research team;
- Have some experience developing their own hypothesis and implementing an analysis plan with minimal input from faculty or staff; and
- Have some experience leading or contributing to the preparation of scientific manuscripts.
