We have assigned a theme for this year’s conference, which comes at a time of intense national discussion about the value of higher education, as well as polarization in public sentiment about colleges and universities. Founding Father Benjamin Franklin has been quoted as saying, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” This sentiment resonates to the foundation of all we do. It’s critical that our many constituencies embrace the importance of investment in the teaching and research at the core of our mission in higher education.
