A WALKING TOUR OF “GREEK TEMPLES”

The ancient world is closer to you than you think! College Hill, Brown University Campus, and downtown Providence is filled with monuments that take their architectural inspiration from Ancient Greece. In this walking tour you will explore the past in the present by looking at Greek-revival and Neo-classical buildings and learning about Ancient Greek art, architecture, and religion.

Use the materials below to take a self-guided tour, including stops at the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology, John Carter Brown Library, Athenaeum, Old Stone Bank, and The Arcade. The tour route is about 0.7 miles and takes 30-60 minutes.
