Emergency departments are the entryway to the healthcare system. Despite the time- and acuity-sensitive nature of an ED visit, resources and data are limited – for patients, physicians, and other care providers. Every aspect of an ED visit – from the decision whether to go to an ED, to triage, to diagnosis, to post-ED care – involves an important series of decisions, information gathering, diagnosis, support and treatment. In this scenario, we will explore novel ways of collecting and acting on information in the pre-hospital, ED, and post-evaluation setting, using novel devices and technology gathering and processing capabilities.
