June 27, 2024: “Politics Versus Policy”: Qualitative Insights on Stigma and Overdose Prevention Center Policymaking in the United States

Overdose prevention centers (OPCs) are effective, but few US cities and states allow OPCs to operate. Researchers looked at how stigma affects rulemaking around OPCs by interviewing key informants in OPC policy in several US states. Policymaking for OPCs was found to be impacted by stigma at various stages and destigmatizing efforts are needed.
