Core Faculty

Director - Oliver Wisco, DO
Director of the Brown Dermatology Cutaneous Oncology Program Chair of Brown Dermatology Quality and Safety Committee
In addition to being a board-certified dermatologist with fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Melanoma Research, Dr. Wisco has been heavily involved in healthcare improvement initiatives through the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS). In 2012, he led the development of the AAD’s national performance measurement system for all of dermatology with the initial focus being on skin cancer care. 10 years later, he led a team for the AAD to create a two-part continuing medical education article series on developing performance measures in dermatology. For the ACMS, he was the thought leader for the first virtual unified Mohs Surgery data registry which enables quality reporting and a data repository for research. Lastly, much of his research has been on how to improve healthcare delivery through the creation of population risk indices, the development of streamlined comprehensive data registries, and the development and implementation of performance metrics. From the leadership perspective, Dr. Wisco retired after 27 years of military service in the United States Air Force after attaining the rank of Colonel. He brings a unique clinical background and healthcare reform & informatics expertise, along with a proven leadership record to the position of the Director of the Center for Performance Measurement.

Associate Director - Guixing Wei, PhD
Senior Research Scientist at the Population Studies and Training Center (PSTC) and Spatial Structures in the Social Sciences (S4) at Brown University; Research Scientist at Rhode Island Hospital; Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Dermatology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
Dr Wei’s research investigates geographic disparities in disease incidence and progression, with a focus on melanoma and related conditions. Through spatial epidemiological methods, he examines how regional variations in disease outcomes are influenced by both individual lifestyle factors and contextual determinants, including healthcare accessibility. Working closely with dermatologists and other clinical partners, he translates research findings into actionable interventions, including targeted community resources and evidence-based policy recommendations. His work synthesizes methods from spatial epidemiology and population health sciences to advance understanding of geographic health disparities, with particular emphasis on serving vulnerable and underserved populations with skin cancer.

She received her Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Brown University in 2024. During her undergraduate years, Mimi was involved in dermatology, neurology, chemistry education, and biochemistry research. In her gap year, she will be working as a dermatology medical assistant at Rhode Island Hospital. Outside of academics, Mimi loves playing the Khim, painting, singing along to musicals, and spending time with her family and friends.

Sarina Khemchandani
Sarina Khemchandani is a MS2 at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University from Orlando, Florida. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Medical Anthropology from Brown University, where she engaged in research in cardiology and dermatology, examining various procedures through a public health lends. Sarina’s current academic interests are rooted in the autoimmunity in dermatology, cutaneous oncology, and the intersection of dermatology with public health. In her spare time, Sarina enjoys drawing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.

Megan Hoang
Megan Hoang is a second-year medical student at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University from Corona, California. She previously attended Brown University as part of the Program of Liberal Medical Education, where she received bachelor’s degrees in Health and Human Biology and in Ethnic Studies. During her undergraduate years, Megan engaged in dermatology, epidemiology, and biology research focused on cutaneous oncology. Megan is passionate about continually working in cutaneous oncology, and understanding and reducing health disparities in dermatology. In her free time, Megan enjoys discovering new restaurants to eat at, going to concerts, and spending time with her loved ones and friends.
