Workshop Overview
The goal of Rivers on the Move is to publish an open access edited collection of historically-oriented essays. The two-day workshop is conceived as an intermediate step toward publication, aimed at discussing and revising collectively the individual papers and the overall framing and findings of the project. All geographies and time periods are welcome.
First drafts of the essays (5-6000 words) will be circulated among all participants two months before the workshop.
Travel and accommodation will be covered for all accepted participants.
Structured over two days, workshop presentations will be limited to ten minutes, with most of the time devoted to discussion of each essay. Authors will be matched with discussants drawn from other disciplines to foster dialogue. Our intention is to develop a focused but generative interdisciplinary conversation around the papers.
At the end of the workshop, participants will agree on a deadline for revised versions of the essays and discuss other publishing considerations.
