Jennifer Tidey, PhD, is a Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Interim Dean of Research at the Brown University School of Public Health. She has been affiliated with Brown University’s Center for Alcohol & Addiction Studies since 1999. She has spent most of her career conducting research aimed at understanding why people with behavioral health disorders have such a hard time quitting smoking, even though most are just as motivated to quit as smokers without these disorders. She also tests potential treatments and policy interventions to reduce smoking in people with behavioral health disorders.

Dr. Tidey spent her childhood in the Chicago area and her high school years in southern California, before coming east in the 80’s to go to college and then graduate school. She has 2 college-age children and loves to travel, do yoga, and take long walks with her dog Leia.
