What is the Summer Research – Early Identification Program – at Brown

The Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP) is the Leadership Alliance’s flagship program and has been part of Brown’s diversity and inclusion efforts since 1993. It is a fully paid summer internship that provides undergraduates with training and mentoring in the principles underlying the conduct of research and prepares them to pursue competitive applications to Ph.D. or MD-PhD programs in all academic disciplines.

Each summer, the SR-EIP brings students from MSIs, HBCUs, and other institutes of higher education to the Brown campus to work closely with a faculty mentor on a research project and engage in evidence-based professional development programming opportunities. Faculty mentors typically spend 1-5 hours each week during the 9-week program supporting the student and their research.
