Ece Uzun, PhD (PI)

Dr. Ece (Gamsiz) Uzun is the Director of Clinical Bioinformatics at Lifespan Academic Medical Center and Assistant Professor at the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She  received B.S in Chemical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University and M.S. in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey. She completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. During her PhD, she studied mathematical modeling of drug delivery systems and focused on oral drug delivery.

Upon completion of PhD, she joined Dr. Eric Morrow’s lab at Brown University as a postdoctoral fellow. During her postdoctoral studies, she worked on computational genetics of autism spectrum disorder and was trained as a bioinformatician. She received two postdoctoral fellowships; translational neuroscience postdoctoral fellowship from Lifespan Research Institute the Lifespan division of Psychiatry, the Brown Institute for Brain Science and the Norman Prince Neurosciences Institute and NIH T32 postdoctoral fellowship from the department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. In April 2016, Dr. Uzun joined the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
