Pulmonary Hypertension and Right Ventricular Dysfunction

Research Focus

These labs investigate the causes and progression of pulmonary hypertension (PH)—excessively high blood pressure in the lungs—and how it affects the right side of the heart. By analyzing molecular, mitochondrial, and cellular defects, they aim to identify strategies that preserve and restore the right ventricle and right atrial function in pulmonary hypertension. In addition, the ongoing studies are exploring mechanisms underlying pulmonary vascular remodeling to improve pulmonary hypertension. Clinical and epidemiological studies are evaluating novel therapies and epidemiology of pulmonary hypertension.
