Katherine Tezanos Ph.D.Â
Dr. Katherine Tezanos is a T32 postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University upon completing her clinical psychology residency at Brown University in the Clinical Child Track. As a postdoctoral research fellow, Dr. Tezanos collaborates with many AMHC members on ongoing projects. Dr. Tezanos’ own research interests include studying and improving the assessment and prediction of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in youth populations. With the mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Wolff and Dr. Anthony Spirito, her current research is focused on using multiple units of analysis to develop a comprehensive characterization of child-caregiver conflict and its association with suicidal thoughts and behaviors in children.

April Highlander Ph.D.
April received her B.S. in Psychology at West Virginia University, her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and her clinical psychology internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Western Psychiatric Hospital. Her program of research centers on understanding mechanisms of symptom presentation and disparities in intervention outcomes for children and families experiencing emotional and behavioral dysregulation with an emphasis on the impact of socio-ecological (e.g., socioeconomic status) and family-based (e.g., parenting) factors. The goal of her research is to improve care for underserved communities through identifying, implementing, and disseminating effective interventions. April enjoys taking long walks, listening to podcasts, anything Halloween related, and spending time with her friends and family.
