Lalit K. Beura BVSc, PhD
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF MOLECULAR MICROBIOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY
email: lalit_beura@brown.edu
twitter: @lalit_beura1
Lalit was born and raised in India. He completed his undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science but managed to steer clear of the clinical practice. Lalit was more interested in the research side of things, so after Vet school, he pursued a Master’s degree that allowed him to do bench research. After finishing his master’s degree at the Indian Institute of Technology, he joined Fernando Osorio’s lab at the University of Nebraska to study host-pathogen interaction in a positive sense RNA virus. There, he developed an appreciation of the host immune system, specifically adaptive immunity. In 2011, he joined David Masopust’s cellular immunology group at the University of Minnesota. There he investigated fundamental aspects of memory T cell functions in mucosal organs. In 2019, he started his independent faculty position at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island.
Mohammad H. Hasan, PhD
POST-DOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
email: mohammad_hasan@brown.edu
Hasan finished his graduate training in Ritesh Tandon’s lab at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) where he studied cytomegalovirus-host interactions. After a short postdoctoral stint in the Glover lab (UMMC) focused on human intestinal immunity he moved to Brown to learn everything about T-cell immunology. When not in the lab, Hasan likes to relax by either playing flute or fishing.
Geongoo Han, PhD
POST-DOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
email: geon_goo_han@brown.edu
Goo is a joint postdoc with Shipra Vaishnava’s lab. He finished his PhD degree at the Seoul National University in South Korea where he studied the relationship between the gut microbiome and host physiology. After a short period of postdoctoral research in the same lab, he moved to Brown University to study microbiome-immune interactions. In his spare time, Goo enjoys playing basketball, running, and traveling.
Farha J. Mithila, BSc
GRADUATE STUDENT

Farha is a graduate student in MCB program. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from University of Massachusetts Boston. After graduation, she worked at Tufts University as a post-baccalaureate research scholar. Her previous research includes organic chemistry, photochemistry, and hematology. Farha also volunteers with American Red Cross Disaster Services. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, scrapbooking, gardening, and reading books.
Ying Lin, BSc
GRADUATE STUDENT
email: ying_lin@brown.edu
Ying is a graduate student in the Pathobiology program. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology & Biochemistry at University of California, San Diego in 2016 and worked at the same institution as a research associate under Dr. JoAnn Trejo until 2021. In her previous lab, she studied the non-canonical activation of protease-activated receptor 1 (PAR1) and endothelial barrier disruption.

Julian Ramprashad
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCHER
email: julian_ramprashad@brown.edu
Julian is an undergraduate student concentrating in Biology on the Immunobiology track. His work in the lab focuses on modeling T resident memory formation in the uterine epithelium during chlamydia infections. Previously, he has also done research on Candida parapsilosis viluence factors. In his leisure time he enjoys playing the flute and piano, hiking, and reading.
