Decolonizing the Museum: A Teach-In

on

The teach-in was based on an open call across Brown and RISD to respond to the Sarr-Savoy Report on the Restitution of African Heritage: Towards a New Relational Ethics that was published by the French government in November 2018. This was an attempt on our part to use the report to forefront long on-going struggles to decolonize the museum, as well as struggles for restitution that are about remaking the world. It brought together scholars, artists and museum curators and generated enormous energy and debate, lasting nearly four hours! You can watch the Teach-In here.
