The Brown University Asian Pacific American (APA) and Diaspora Studies working group launched in Fall 2024, with support from the Office of the Dean of Faculty and the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity (CSREA). We are a collective of graduate students, staff, and faculty with scholarly interests in the ever-growing, expansive, and interconnected fields of Asian American Studies, Pacific Islander Studies, and Asian Diaspora studies. We are an intellectual community devoted to advancing the presence of APA and Diaspora Studies at Brown, supporting the scholarship of working group members, forging new collaborations, and connecting with other scholarly communities dedicated to the study of race, indigeneity, and migration within and outside of Brown.

The working group meets once a month, with each session usually devoted to a salient theme and discussion of published works or works in progress. Please navigate to the schedule through the menu above to learn more. On this webpage you can also learn more about APA and Diaspora Studies at Brown as well as the members of the planning committee. We welcome your participation or inquiries!
