The Favila Lab

The Favila Lab investigates memory and its implementation in the human brain. Memory allows us to exploit information encountered minutes, days, or even decades ago. However, our memories are not perfect snapshots of the past – they are extremely selective, and at times, false. Our research explores the cognitive and neural pressures that actively shape what we remember. How are the content and format of our memories molded by our environment and goals, by interactions with other similar memories, and how do these transformations change the way we behave in the future? We explore these questions using behavioral, computational, and neuroimaging approaches.
