In collaboration with Rhode Island’s NIGMS-funded Institutional Development Award (IDeA) programs, Advance RI-CTR welcomes investigators, research staff, stakeholders, medical students and community members to attend the 2024 Emerging Areas of Science IDeA Symposium “Health Effects of Environmental Change” on October 24th, 2024, at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Join Rhode Island’s IDeA programs as we celebrate research throughout the state. This marks the 17th year that IDeA programs in Rhode Island have gathered together to hold a state-wide symposium that celebrates successes and fosters collaborations among Rhode Island Investigators.
Distinguished Keynote Speakers
- Kari Nadeau, MD, PhD, John Rock Professor of Climate and Population and Chair of the Department of Environmental Health at Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health, speaking on “Climate Change and Health: Innovative Solutions to Act On”
- J.P. Walsh, PhD, Professor of Oceanography, University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography, speaking on “Coastal Challenges in the Past, Present and Future: From Major Storms to Microplastics”
The half day symposium, including a poster session and lunchtime panel discussion, will explore the health effects of environemental change in Rhode Island and shine a light on local research in the subject area.
