COBRE for CardioPulmonary Vascular Biology

PI: Sharon Rounds, MD
Co-PI: Beth Harrington, PhD

Cardiovascular and pulmonary vascular diseases are leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the U.S. The CardioPulmonary Vascular Biology Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CPVB COBRE) aims to improve understanding of the pathobiology of pulmonary vascular and cardiovascular diseases in order to develop effective treatments. The CPVB COBRE was funded for Phase I in 2013, and Phase II funding was awarded for 2018-23.  A multidisciplinary group of MD, PhD and MD/PhD investigators have developed a research center that focuses on understanding the biology of the vasculature and mechanisms of blood vessel injury. The CPVB COBRE is administered by the Ocean State Research Institute, a non-profit research and education foundation located at the Providence VA Medical Center (VAMC).
