Permitted laboratory users: registration, training, and access
All new users must follow a short approval process and undergo training as needed.
New User Registration:
Apart from the ILAS Director (de facto access), potential users of the ILAS must gain access through a short application that details the purpose, procedures, and duration of research to be carried out. Most faculty, post-doctoral, and graduate student researchers in ANTHRO or JIAAW should expect to gain access to the ILAS, barring exceptional circumstances, extraneous intended use, lack of space, or safety issues. Undergraduate students and unaffiliated researchers require sponsorship by an approved laboratory member, who will take responsibility for protocols and supervise the research.
Training and protocols approval:
Upon approval, the new laboratory user must 1) submit a new set of protocols (if not already in-use in the ILAS) for approval by EHS, and 2) undergo necessary training to use the workspace. The ILAS Director is responsible for submitting a revised Biological Research Authorization (BRA) form to the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), that includes new protocols and lab users. The ILAS Director is also responsible for ensuring that all users of the ILAS are up-to-date on required laboratory training.
Annual user access:
Access to the laboratory will be reviewed annually at the turnover of the academic year. Keycard access may be revoked/keys may be claimed at that time.
