  • Congratulations to Dr. Qian Chen as Principal Investigator and Dr. Yupeng Chen as co-Principal Investigator for winning 2014 Collaborative Research Grant Awards from RI Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC)! This is a collaborative grant awarding projects with significant technology development and commercialization potential. Dr. Wei Lu and Dr. Richard Terek are also the co-PIs of this grant.

  • Congratulations to Dr. Yupeng Chen as Principal Investigator of the first Dean’s Emerging Areas of New Science (DEANS) Awards from Brown University! This DEANS Awards is aimed to foster scientific discovery through partnerships between basic science faculty in the Division of Biology and Medicine and Alpert Medical School clinical faculty. This is a multi-PI grant, and Dr. Eric Darling is the PI in the basic science part.

  • Congratulations to Dr. Qian Chen as the Principal Investigator and Director of Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) for Skeletal Health and Repair! This is a $10.8 million grant from NIH, one of the largest grants in Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University history! This grant, starting from 2012, will fund studies of cartilage and joint health. This is the second phase of the study, COBRE was awarded an $11 million NIH grant for Phase I in 2007.
