Music Capstone Project:

  • Senior Vocal Recital Recordings

For my capstone project, I planned on performing a culminating senior vocal recital of music that I had been working on over the past four years in my voice lessons through the Applied Music Program. In the selection of repertoire that I would have performed, I focused on two genres: classic jazz songs from the canon and contemporary musical theater pieces by writers like Jason Robert Brown, Pasek & Paul, and Adam Guettel. Since a live performance is no longer possible, I created audio recordings of my recital repertoire. For these recordings, I both sang the pieces and accompanied myself on the piano. Also, I have used this project as an educational opportunity to learn about technology recording software. Using Pro Tools, I have worked on mixing the recordings and improving the sound quality of the tracks. I hope to release these recordings in a cohesive album.
