Studying the significance of colonization with resistant hospital pathogens, and especially MRSA, has allowed us to evaluate the genetic traits associated with colonization, estimate the incidence of severe infections among colonized patients, identify predisposing factors for transition of colonization to infection and study the efficacy and safety of preventive measures and compounds.

Evaluating the significance of colonization with resistant hospital pathogens, such as C. difficile, has allowed us to evaluate the trend of colonization over time, estimate the incidence of severe infections among colonized patients, identify predisposing factors for transition of colonization to infection and study the efficacy and safety of preventive measures for hospital infections.
