Thundermist Health Center:

Thundermist has been serving Rhode Island for the last fifty years. They have a Trans Health Access Team, which is a group of medical, behavioral health, and allied professionals that are specifically trained in LGBTQ+ care. This team also includes dental services. Thundermist also brings training to different organizations and providers to build their knowledge of transgender care. Thundermist employs many transgender and LGBTQ+ individuals as staff.

Open Door Health:

Open Door Health was created when many community members noticed a lack of knowledgeable primary care and sexual health services for the LGBTQ+ population in Rhode Island. Fenway Health:

Fenway Health is a Massachusetts based organization that was created in 1971 with the goal of making life better for the LGBTQ+ community, those living with HIV/AIDS, and the broader community. They have numerous programs, including the Borum Health Center which serves LGBTQ+ teens and young adults ages 12-29 who are at risk. AIDS Project RI:

Founded in 1985, the AIDS Project focuses on serving compassionate care to those infected with and impacted by AIDS. They also provide resources for those at risk for or diagnosed with HIV. They serve more than 1,500 individuals every year and provide services to everyone.

Miriam Hospital STD Clinic:

The STD Clinic at Miriam Hospital ensures that all individuals can receive free testing for HIV, HBV and HCV. Currently, Miriam Hospital is only providing testing by appointment. To make an appointment, call: 401-793-4715.

Open Door:

Open Door Health provides primary and sexual health care specifically to LGBTQ+ Rhode Island residents. Many of their staff members identify as LGBTQ+ and are trained in all aspects of their care. Open Door was built specifically to meet the lack of providers for the community.

Project Weber/RENEW:

Weber/RENEW is a non-profit, community built organization that specializes in harm reduction and recovery services. Weber/RENEW provides an abundance of services, many specific to transgender and LGBTQ+ individuals. Many of their staff members identify as LGBTQ+, and all staff are trained and knowledgeable in LGBTQ+ care.

AIDS Care Ocean State:

AIDS Care not only provides HIV/STI testing, but also comprehensive care including but not limited to: housing, case management, and prevention services to those affected by or at risk for HIV individuals. AIDS Care also provides advocacy and has been around since 1987. They serve LGBTQ+ individuals and do not require medical coverage to receive help.

Planned Parenthood:

Planned Parenthood is not only able to provide abortion services, but also numerous other assistance programs. Planned Parenthood offers LGBTQ+ specific care, as well as HIV and STI testing and care. In addition, they provide hormone care without requiring being your PCP. They also provide referrals for other services they may not provide. They are the nation’s largest provider of sex education, and allow for sliding scales and afforable care.
