Out2Enroll is a national initiative formed in 2013 to connect the LGBTQ+ population with new health insurance coverage options under the Affordable Care Act. Their team is built with LGBTQ+ identifying individuals and allies. They believe that access to affordable and quality health insurance coverage is an LGBTQ+ equality issue that needs to be solved.

RI Local Resources

Haus of Codec Emergency Shelter:

Haus of Codec is a program under PrYSM which is currently working on the Queer Community Housing Initiative. This housing initiative will open on November 1st, 2021 to LGBTQ+ youth ages 18-24, with the goal of alleviating homelessness and assisting youth in finding stable housing. Provided will eventually be capacity for 40 individuals, access to emergency services, a food and pantry, and other housing amenities.

Crossroads RI:

Crossroads was founded in 1894, and is the largest homeless shelter in Rhode Island. They now are the leading provider of housing to those experiencing homelessness. They assist with LGBTQ+ housing, and provide housing, basic needs, and more.

HealthSource RI:

HealthSource RI was created in 2013 under the Affordable Care Act, and connects Rhode Islanders with affordable, high quality coverage. They help individuals find financial assistance for health insurance, and have cut the uninsured rate in Rhode Island by two-thirds since 2014.

Blue Cross Blue Shield RI (BCBS):

BCBS created the Safe Zone Project, which is a certification program healthcare providers must go through to be considered competent in LGBTQ+ care. They are known to cover many LGBTQ+ services, such as hormones, surgeries, and more. They are an insurance company that offers member services, plans, healthcare information, and more.
