Hello! We are Project AIR, a paid Brown University research study exploring the effects of alcohol on different systems in the body. We are looking at how alcohol impacts the immune system and the brain in people living with HIV and in people without HIV. Our goal is to learn more about the potential risks of alcohol so that people can make informed decisions about their health. All individuals are welcome (and encouraged) to contact us, regardless of HIV status!
If you’re interested, here is some info to know beforehand:
Participation involves three visits:
- A brief phone screening (paid $25) followed by a 30-minute in-person visit (paid $25) for those who are eligible
- One half-day visit (up to 4 hours) at Brown’s School of Public Health (paid $125)
- One full day visit (up to 7 hours) at Brown’s School of Public Health (paid $275)
During the study you may be asked to:
- Fill out questionnaires
- Drink an alcoholic beverage
- Have an MRI scan
- Have blood drawn
Compensation and Transportation
- If you are found to be eligible and complete all parts of the study, you will be paid $450 for your time and effort!
- You will be paid up to $50 for the screening, even if you are found ineligible.
- Transportation is on us! We can arrange a Lyft ride for you to and from each visit.
