We focus on utilizing native and exogenous stem/progenitor cell populations alone and in combination with biologic factors and biomimetic scaffolds to accelerate and improve musculoskeletal joint tissue repair/regeneration in order to prevent post-traumatic osteoarthritis.

Ongoing projects:

  • Transgenic engineering of mesenchymal stem/progenitor cells to increase chemotactic migration to sites of tissue injury.
  • Developing novel methodologies to increase cell viability, cell adhesion, and neo-tissue formation in cell-based soft tissue repair.
  • Investigating biological mechanisms that determine progenitor cell fate and the quality of neo-tissue formed at sites of injury.
