CEL Lab Investigators awarded funding for Sleep Research
Principal investigators Dr. Michael Armey and Dr. Melanie Bozzay received an award Nov. 24 for a nearly four-year, $2.25 million study from the National Institutes of Health to investigate the effects
sleep disruption has on various risk factors for suicide.

Dr. Heather Schatten to support Colorado State University Team initiative to provide an emergency expansion of mental health care across Colorado in the wake of COVID-19 and related worsening psychological outcomes.
Dr. Armey featured as an expert in article unpacking on the rise in suicide rates amidst COVID.

Dr. Schatten & Dr. Gaudiano each received American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) grant funding. Dr. Schatten’s funding will support a new treatment initiative: “Feasibility, Acceptability, and Preliminary Efficacy of a Novel Personalized Mobile Intervention for Suicide.” The goal of Dr. Schatten’s study is to develop a novel personalized mobile intervention for suicide.

Butler Hospital’s Zero Suicide Initiative
Drs. Michael Armey and Diane Block are spearheading an initiative by Butler Hospital which aims to reduce to zero the number of lives lost by suicide for 30 days after discharge from inpatient or day program treatment.

Dr. Heather Schatten and collaborators at the University of Michigan received funding from the National Institute of Mental Health for a five year study using smartphone based methods to evaluate suicide risk.
