Lab Mascots

Gatto

Gatto

Gatto is a founding member of the lab, joining us in 2011.  His hobbies include stalking cats who intrude on his territory, demanding timely meals, and fighting Kismet for the coveted spot on the couch.  He is also notorious for sending Dr. Armey to the hospital for a serious bite and infection, so pet at your own risk.

Kismet

Kismet

Kismet forced his way into the lab in 2013 by shredding a screen to sneak into Dr. Armey’s sunroom.  Despite this questionable beginning, and due to his charming, affectionate, and carefree disposition, he quickly found a permanent position with our team.  He excels flopping down and at sleeping on you ten minutes before you plan to go to bed as well as covering every surface with thick, cottony, fur.

Jade

Jade

Jade has been asserting her dominance since 2017. A seasoned research consultant, she joins Dr. Bozzay on many of her remote meetings, even when not expressly invited. She excels at protecting her residence from intruding flies, napping, and expertly camouflaging herself in dark areas when her presence is most desired.  Jade is adept at sensing when nearby humans are eating dinner and is an expert manager, having successfully trained her staff to reward her when she sits and requests cheese.

Shiny Scales

Shiny Scales

Shiny Scales does not directly belong to Dr. Schatten, but is her daughter’s – thus the fancy name. Shiny Scales is a beta fish that does, in fact, have pretty shiny scales. Their favorite things to do include swimming, swimming, and more swimming. Shiny Scales is uncomfortable being on this web page with a whole bunch of cats.

Velvet

Velvet

Velvet is a fun-loving, sweet, and gentle 6-year-old mixed breed who has more than lived up to her foster parents’ description of her as a ‘stage five clinger.’ She loves spending time cuddling with her humans, going on adventures in the car, and snoring loudly while sleeping in awkward positions. She tolerates dog food but would rather be eating hotdogs and will be your best friend for a slice of prosciutto.

Stella

Stella

Stella has been wreaking havoc since 2020. While occasionally known for decimating Beanie Babies and eating window blinds, she also brings so much love, cuddles, and headbutts to everyone she meets. Her favorite spot to nap is right on Sara’s laptop to ensure that minimal work gets done.

Teddy

Teddy

In typical fashion, Teddy barged his way into the lab in 2022, leaving a large pool of slobber in his wake. Teddy plays a pivotal role in boosting Geneva’s morale through the highs and lows of research. In his ample spare time, Teddy likes to lounge, drink water directly from his human companion’s tap, and pretend he’s a lap dog. Teddy is always willing to accept treats (especially peanut butter).

Kahlua

Kahlua

Kahlua is a 5-year-old poodle mix who took up her permanent post in the lab in May 2023. Her specialties include emotional support, morale boosting, begging for food, and being glued to Amalia’s side at all times (unless someone else has food). She is the calmest and sweetest girl, and often is so quiet that everyone forgets she is there.

Jameson

Jameson

Unlike his sister Kahlua, no one has ever gone without noticing Jameson’s presence. He has two brain cells on his best days, and always makes sure to use both of them for his most essential task – obtaining all of the pets from the most number of humans. He is sad that he does not get to come to the office, but understands that not everyone is cut out for the 9-5 life. Also, he realizes that he could not possibly sit still for even 10 minutes of that time, as that would take away from valuable pet-seeking time.

Tangerine

Tangerine

Tangerine is very happy to join Shiny Scales as the second lab fish! Although admittedly, they have a much cooler name. Despite not being very cuddly Tangerine is very good at keeping Geneva company. Currently, Tangerine specializes in swimming but hopes to broaden his horizon to include some tricks in the future.
