Tatiana Waterman

Physics Teacher, Phillips Exeter Academy

Workshop Facilitator

Tatiana Waterman has been teaching high school physics for over 30 years, her last 18 at Phillips Exeter Academy, where the pedagogy across all departments is based on the Harkness method. https://www.exeter.edu/excellence/how-youll-learn   After a B.Sc. in physics, in her native Greece, she did graduate work (M. Sc. in optoacoustics) at Brown.

Her interest is in inspiring her students to continue thinking like a scientist—even though most of them will not major in science in college.  She believes that physics makes one a better poet, citizen, or consumer of information.  Encouraging students of underrepresented groups to like physics is one of her main reasons for going to work every day.
