Alexander Fleischmann

Principal Investigator

I am interested in understanding neural circuit functions underlying sensory perception and behavior. Following my postdoctoral training at Columbia University in New York, I established the lab at the College de France in Paris. In 2018, we relocated to Brown University. I am excited about collaborative, interdisciplinary research, my goal is to create a supportive and diverse research environment in which everyone can explore innovative research projects.

I am a Ph.D candidate in Neuroscience interested in how behavior impacts sensory processing. I study this question in the olfactory system by imaging piriform cortex in awake, behaving mice while monitoring ongoing behavior.

I am a PhD candidate in Neuroscience studying the neural coding of sensory-spatial associations. I’m developing a novel behavioral paradigm to image neural activity in freely-moving mice. My goal is to identify activity supporting these behaviors in the lateral entorhinal cortex.

Keywords: Freely-moving behavior, Calcium imaging, association learning and recall, chanelrhodopsin

I am a PhD candidate in Neuroscience interested in understanding the loss of adult hippocampal neurogenesis in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). I utilize in vivo approaches alongside genomics techniques to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying defects in hippocampal neural stem cells in mouse models of AD. The overarching goal of my research is to identify targets to improve neurogenesis and alleviate cognitive symptoms in the context of AD.

Keywords: Alzheimer’s, neurogenesis
