What to expect when you participate in the Hassenfeld Prenatal Study
Participation is easy. Most of the samples collected for our study are already being collected during prenatal care and would otherwise be discarded. We work with local care providers so there are no additional steps for you. We also ask you to fill out a brief survey.
We follow participants and their children for five years. All you need to do is fill out a brief survey every year on your child’s birthday. You can opt out or withdraw at any time.
Enrollment:
We will ask you to fill out a brief enrollment survey about yourself, your baby, and the father of your baby. You will receive $25 for completing the survey.
24-28 Weeks:
We will ask you to complete a brief survey via e-mail. You will receive $10 for filling out the survey.
34-38 weeks:
We will call you to do a brief survey over the phone regarding your postnatal plans. You will receive $10 for completing the survey.
Soon after birth:
We will contact you in the days just after you have given birth to have you finish a brief survey. You will receive $10 for doing so.
Beyond:
We will email you a survey when your child is three, six, and nine months old. Every time you fill out a survey, you will be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift card.
We will also reach out to you once a year for the next five years, usually around your child’s birthday.
Privacy
Your privacy is very important to us. Your medical information remains private and confidential. We give it to researchers without your name or other identification. Your medical information cannot be easily linked to you.
