(A) Pre-Conference Informal Dinner on Sunday, 10/6/2018:

We will meet at Restaurant Tao Tao at 7:00pm, Sunday, for an informal pre-Workshop dinner. The precise address is

To reach the restaurant, the closest metro station is Nationale. This is  one stop from Place d’Italie, along line #6, going east. From Nationale, one walks along the south side of blvd Vincent Auriol, back towards Place d’Italie.

One can also simply take a short walk from Place d’Italie along blvd Vincent Auriol, along the south side and to the east.

This is labeled as “best moderately priced restaurant in Paris” by Trip Advisor.  We will order food Chinese style and share the expense. Leaving food aside, this gives us all a chance to unwind and to meet, before the Workshop begins.

Directions:

can be reached either by Metro or by RER. However, due to on-going strike, safer bet is using metro. Assuming starting from IAP, it involves one transfer:

(1) Walk to Metro station DENFERT-ROCHEREAU, and there take a train on the #4 Line, north, three stops, to station MONTPERNASSE-BIENVENUE. (2) There, change to Metro Line #13, north, four stops to INVALIDES. (3) Leave the Metro, and go upstairs towards the large Air France Bureau, and find the large staircase descending to restaurant Chez Francoise. Et voila, vous etes la.

(C) Other suggested dining options:

There are too many good restaurants in Paris to recommend, and we will not do that here.  We will mention here what we ourselves have done during the past Workshops held at IAP.

(1) Usually we will have at least one light meal near here, e.g.,  crepe/cider at

There are also 3 crêperies on rue Odessa that we have not tried, Le Manoir Bretagne, Le Filibuster, Ty Breiz.

This is our personal favorite. You also get a chance to walk around the marais (old town) area.
