How to Sign Up for an Anonymous Email with AnonAddy
Background: AnonAddy is an email service that provides anonymous email addresses. It allows the user to create a disposable email address and to keep their main email address confidential. The service works by forwarding emails sent to the anonymous address to the user’s real email address.
Sign-up:
1. Go to the AnonAddy website → https://anonaddy.com/
2. Click the “Register” button in the top right corner of the page.
3. Enter a username, your real email address, a password, and the Human Verification code.
4. Verify your email by clicking the link sent to your email.
5. Once you have verified your email, you can log in to your AnonAddy account and start using the service.
Use the service:
1. Click the turquoise “Create new Alias” button to the right of the page (right after signing in).
2. Now you have two options:
a. You can receive a randomly generated alias by leaving all of the options to default:
i. Alias Domain: anonadd.me
ii. Alias format: Random Characters
b. You can create your own alias by selecting the following settings:
i. Alias Domain: [Your username].anonaddy.com
ii. Alias format: Custom
iii. Alias Local Part: Type what you would like the email prefix to be
1. Example: in the email test@clanlabtest.anonaddy.com, “test” is the email prefix and “clanlabtest.anonaddy.com” is the email domain)
c. After both options select the turquoise “Create Alias” button at the bottom left.
3. Your alias will appear under the “Created” section on the webpage.
4. Click this alias name (______@anonaddy.me) to automatically copy the address to your clipboard.
5. Now go back to the “screener” you were just completing and paste the copied anonymous email address where it says: “Please enter an email address where you would like to receive the survey link”. All communications for this study will be directed to this anonymous email. Anonaddy will forward all emails to your actual email from sign-up.
