The Department of Art History, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick, NJ) is pleased to invite applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. They seek a scholar whose area of specialization lies within the ancient world, conceived globally. The geographic scope of the position might encompass Africa, Asia, the Americas, or Europe. Its chronological range varies according to the region, beginning as early as the Bronze Age (ca. 3000-1200 BCE) and generally extending to around 400-600 CE, or, in the case of a scholar of pre-Columbian art, up to the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries.

The successful applicant would have the opportunity to engage with the department’s programs in cultural heritage and preservation studies (CHAPS), architectural studies, and/or museum and curatorial studies and help to enhance departmental collaboration with other units across the University. Job duties include research and teaching both in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Art History. The successful candidate will have a 2-2 course load and teach a range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Requirments

Applicants should have an outstanding research program and proven dedication to teaching. Minimun requirments include a PhD in Art History or a closely related field required by the start of the appointment.
