Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor

The Department of Art History and Archaeology invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor. The appointment is for the 2014-15 academic year. This position involves six courses (3/3), including an introductory survey of Roman art and archaeology and undergraduate and graduate-level Roman courses in a variety of topics. Teaching experience is expected and the PhD is required for appointment at this rank.
Please note that a tenure-track position in this area will be searched next year, to begin August 2016. For both positions we seek a classical archaeologist with broad training in Roman art and archaeology, and an established record of funding, field research, and publication centered in Italy.
The department offers the BA, MA, and PhD degrees in art history and archaeology. There are usually about 80 undergraduate majors and 25 graduate students. Graduate degrees in art history and archaeology can be combined with interdisciplinary minors in Ancient Studies, Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Museum Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies. The University of Missouri is the main campus of the state university system and offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Campus resources include the Museum of Art and Archaeology, with a collection of 16,000 objects, excellent library resources for Roman archaeology, and a Visual Resources Center.
