The Journal of Roman Archaeology and the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World at Brown University invite applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Roman Archaeology who will serve at the same time as the Assistant Editor of JRA.  This full-time position will be shared equally between Brown University and JRA.
Candidates must have previous editorial experience as well as being engaged in a promising and developing research program. We are interested in individuals whose work focuses on any aspect of or period in Roman archaeology, and who have relevant fieldwork experience. Excellence in undergraduate and graduate-level teaching is essential.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach half time — i.e., one course per semester. In the newly created position of Assistant Editor, the successful candidate will also be responsible for assigning and editing all JRA book reviews and managing routine correspondence with authors. This will be a two-year position ideally beginning on July 1, 2017 and subject to renewal; the Ph.D. must be in hand by that date.
Exceptional junior scholars who augment or complement the present strengths and diversity of the Joukowsky Institute community, and who enhance our commitment to inclusive education and research, are particularly encouraged to apply.  We seek candidates who have demonstrated a capacity for innovative research. As the newly appointed Assistant Editor, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the Journal of Roman Archaeology at a key moment of strength ­- in its 30th year of publication. A good reading knowledge of French, German, Italian, and Spanish is strongly preferred, as well as a track record of high-quality writing.

The UCL Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for a Teaching Fellow in Comparative Mediterranean Prehistory (Ref.:1567589). The deadline for applications is 8 September 2016.
A full-time Teaching Fellow is sought to contribute to teaching in comparative Mediterranean prehistory, with demonstrated expertise in Aegean and Central or West Mediterranean prehistory.
The post-holder will teach at all levels, from undergraduate and postgraduate to research degree level in their own area of expertise and will continue to the teaching at all levels beyond their own area of expertise, especially as part of the MA in Mediterranean Archaeology.
The post-holder will take an active role in the development and recruitment for the MA in Mediterranean Archaeology, and will contribute to administrative duties related to teaching and the running of the Institute.

Position Announcement: Religions and Societies in the Mediterranean World Postdoctoral Fellowships (Deadline 3/15/16)

The Research Centre “Religions and Societies in the Mediterranean World” (RESMED), a laboratory of excellence affiliated to Sorbonne University (Paris) offers five (5) one-year RESMED postdoctoral fellowships, starting July 2016. Deadline for applications: 15 March 2016.
Eligibility
The project will have clearly to fit in the scientific program of the Labex RESMED, according to one of ten profiles proposed.
Candidates will have defended their doctorates in France or abroad less than 5 years ago, or less than 10 years if they can justify research experience in other academic institutions. Candidates holding a PhD from our founding institutions are not allowed to apply (Universities of Paris-Sorbonne, Panthéon- Sorbonne, Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes).

Penn Museum Summer Internships are your opportunity to learn about the Penn Museum’s collections, exhibitions, programs, and methodologies, and to meet professionals in the museum field. Internships are open to undergraduate and graduate level students, and recent graduates from Penn and outside colleges and universities. Projects are available in the following departments: Archives, Exhibitions, Collections, NAGPRA (Repatriation Office), CAAM (Archaeological Science), the Pennsylvania Sumerian Dictionary, Cultural Heritage Center, Conservation, Development, Public Programs, and Learning Programs (K-12). Position Announcement: Three Visiting Positions at Dartmouth (Deadline 3/1/16)

Two-year academic diversity postdoctoral fellowship:

The Department of Classics at Dartmouth College invites applicants for its newly-established academic diversity postdoctoral fellowship.
Applicants for this position must be specialists in the literature, material culture, or history of ancient Greece or Rome.  Promising candidates will be (1) scholars from one of the populations historically underrepresented in the American university system (including but not limited to African Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, or
Latinos/as) /or/ (2) scholars whose experience, teaching, or research will enhance the diversity and cultural competency of the Dartmouth community. The intent of this fellowship is to foster the academic careers of promising scholars who have recently received their Ph.D. degrees by permitting them to pursue their research while gaining mentored experience as teachers and members of an academic department. The program also benefits Dartmouth by broadening the range of scholarly specialties, viewpoints, and experiences represented among our faculty.
This fellowship has a term of two years with a start date of 15 June 2016. Fellows teach one course and assist with two introductory-level, large-enrollment courses in each academic year. The fellowship comes with an annual salary of $45,500 as well as health benefits and an annual allowance of $5,000 for research-related expenses (including but not limited to purchase of a computer and travel). The Ancient World Project (Teaching and Learning for the Third Century: Changing the Way We Teach the Ancient World; https://www.lrc.lsa.umich.edu/eliav/kelsey/about/) in collaboration with the Department of Near Eastern Studies is seeking candidates for a 1-year postdoctoral position, renewable (although not guaranteed) for a second year, to begin September 1, 2015.
We are looking for people with broad graduate training in the archaeology and/or history of the eastern Mediterranean regions and their physical environment, with preference (although not a requirement) to the Graeco-Roman eras, and with some knowledge of the Jewish and/or Christian realms. They must also be comfortable and capable in researching ancient artifacts and writing about them. A PhD degree is required prior to appointment. The successful candidate will work on his/her own project for a minimum of 20 hours per week, and an additional 20 hours will be devoted to work for the Ancient World Project under the guidance and supervision of one of its senior members.
Salary for this position is $50,000 for a 12-month appointment. The position also includes a full benefits package, $2,000 research allowance, and up to $3,500 in moving costs.
