Manager, Clinical Research Program
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Risa Flynn is the Director of Clinical Research at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Her dedication to the quality of life and healthcare for underserved and vulnerable communities brought her to the Center eleven years ago. She’s been instrumental in the growth of the research program, which currently conducts biobehavioral, epidemiological, and longitudinal observational studies, as well as drug and device clinical trials. Risa facilitates collaboration with academic institutions around the U.S. to improve identification, prevention, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and HIV and the impacts of substance use on LGBTQ communities. She believes that research in LGBT populations should be holistic, avoiding sexualization and objectification. She was pleased to join the REACH consortium of FQHCs who serve people living with HIV and looks forward to successful implementation of this important project.
